Corpo branco ou creme translúcido cerata afastados para os lados do corpo. Os olhos são bem visíveis logo atrás dos rinóforos. Alimenta-se exclusivamente de ovos de Gobius niger, perto dos quais frequentemente se encontra. A postura é composta por uma fina tira em zigue-zague. É passível de ser confundida com a outra espécie do género, Calma glaucoides, mas esta alimenta-se também de ovos de outros góbios, blénios e gobiesociformes (por exemplo, Lepadogaster lepadogaster). Uma das características notáveis da anatomia destes animais é a ausência de ânus, provavelmente devido à riqueza nutritiva da sua dieta. O epíteto específico - gobioophaga - significa literalmente que "come ovos de góbio".
White or cream translucent body with the cerata set apart to the sides. The eyes are clearly visible just behind the rhinophores. Feeds exclusively on the eggs of Gobius niger where it's usually found. The eggs are laid in a thin wavy line. It may be confused with the other species of the same genus, Calma glaucoides, but the later feeds also on the eggs of other gobies, blennies and gobiesociformes (Lepadogaster lepadogaster, for instance). One of the most striking characteristics of the anatomy of these species is the lack of anus, probably due to the nutritious value of its diet. The specific epithet - gobioophaga - translates literally to "eats goby's eggs".
