Felimare bilineata (Pruvot-Fol, 1953)
[Hypselodoris bilineata]

Ordo: Nudibranchia
Subordo: Doridina
Familia: Chromodorididae

One of the species of the Felimare genus of the (informal) group of the "Atlantic blue chromodorids". It can be distinguished by the two paralel longitudinal yellow lines on the mantle joining ahead of the rhinophores. The mantle has a yellow edge with a thin dark line on the interior side and can also present lighter blue areas. The posterior side of the rhinophores shows a yellow line similar to F. cantabrica but restricted to its base. The branchia show two yellow lines on the external side and one on the internal side. The lines on the mantle may vary throughout its distribution range (Western Mediterranean, nearby Atlantic and West Africa). It can also be mistaken by F. tricolor and F. fontandraui, from which it can be more easily distinguished due to the lack of yellow markings behind the rhinophores in these two species.

The recently published work by Rebecca Fay Johnson and Terrence M. Gosliner has reviewed the phylogeny of this family so the atlantic members of the Hypselodoris genus are reclassified under the Felimare genus. Therefore, the most recent classification of this species is Felimare bilineata.
