Outra das espécies do género Felimare que constitui o grupo (informal) dos "azuis do Atlântico" e que são facilmente confundidos entre si. Apresenta uma única linha mediana no manto, amarela ou branca, estendendo-se até entre os rinóforos com eventuais manchas claras ao redor. Rinóforos uniformemente azuis (sem marcas) com a ponta mais clara e brânquias com marcas claras apenas externamente, uma linha clara por brânquia. Para melhor identificar as espécies deste género, recomenda-se a consulta da tabela elaborada por Marina Poddubetskaia que sintetiza as principais diferenças.

O recente trabalho de Rebecca Fay Johnson e de Terrence M. Gosliner reviu a filogenia desta família pelo que os membros atlânticos do género Hypselodoris foram reclassificados no género Felimare. Assim, a mais recente classificação desta espécie é Felimare tricolor.


Another species of the Felimare genus which constitutes the (informal) group of the "Atlantic blue chromodorids", easily mistaken between them. It has a single yellow or white line on the mantle extending up to between the rhinophores, eventually with lighter spots and blotches around it. The rhinophores are blue with a lighter tip (but no yellow or white markings) and the branchia have light markings only on the outside, a single line in each. To better distinguish the species within this genus it is recommended to check the table done by Marina Poddubetskaia which systematizes the main differences.

The recently published work by Rebecca Fay Johnson and Terrence M. Gosliner has reviewed the phylogeny of this family so the atlantic members of the Hypselodoris genus are reclassified under the Felimare genus. Therefore, the most recent classification of this species is Felimare tricolor.
